HOW TO INSTALL MOBILE PRESETS ON YOUR PHONE

how to guides

The concept

To help make this process a bit simpler, let’s try to understand the concept behind installing these presets. Basically, the files that you will receive after purchasing the Mobile Presets are DNG files.  These files are like a JPEG file (So, an image) but they allow saving of  lightroom settings; the presets. All you need to do is get those DNGs onto your phone (however you like; via AirDrop, dropbox, file sharing or the like) and then add them into your Lightroom Mobile App.

Cool?

*If you have Lightroom CC on your computer at home; installing the presets is the easiest thing. Just install them in your desktop version of lightroom and they will automatically sync to your phone’s app*

Step 1

Once you have the DNG files on your phone, proceed to import them into your Lightroom Mobile App as you would any other image.

Step 2

Once they’re inside, select one of the DNGs you imported and click on “Presets” at the very bottom tool bar (Far right). A dialog box should open up, then simply click on “Create Preset”.

Step 3

A new dialog box will open and it will ask you for The Preset Name, Group and what settings you want to include in the preset.

Try to name the preset the same as the DNG (so its easier to know whats what). Example “Clean (with Contrast)”.

Next, it asks you for the Preset Group. We recommned creating a new group and calling it The Roots Mobile. That way, all your new presets are in one easy to find place.

Finally, make sure the following are selected:

  • Profile: Color (or whatever it says)
  • Light
  • Color
  • Effects
  • Detail

The rest do not need to be selected.

Step 4

Repeat Step 2 & 3 for each DNG file; and you’re done.
